  • Working both as an independent consultant as well as employed within consulting / brokerage / client firms, the past seven years have been focused on working with companies to improve operational effectiveness and efficiencies.  Individual and small group consulting with clients has focused on leadership coaching, transition management and team optimization.

2007 – 2011         Delhaize America, Scarborough, ME and Salisbury, NC

  • Served as Director of Insurance & Claims Management responsible for $167M financial exposure in Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Disability and Insurance Programs across sixteen states for Hannaford, Food Lion and Sweetbay grocery banners.  

1994 – 2007         Bath Iron Works, A General Dynamics Company, Bath, ME

  • Served as Manager of Integrated Health Services with responsibility for Benefit plans (Health, Short & Long Term Disability, Retirement), Family Medical Leave, Health & Wellness, and Healthcare Strategy.  Past responsibilities included Manager of Employment, Training & Development; Business Manager for Life Cycle Division; Strategic Planner; Risk Manager; Program Office Information Analyst; and Occupational Social Worker.

1991 – 1993          Scripps Memorial Hospital, Encinitas California

  • In both hospitals, served as Rehabilitation Social Worker / Discharge Planner / Case Manager for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation units.

1988 – 1991          Hospital Corporation of America, HCA Medical Plaza Hospital, Fort Worth, TX

  • Served as Director of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center and Comprehensive Stress Management Psychiatric Unit, with responsibilities for broad based interdisciplinary teams of professionals, financial performance, JCAHO & HCFA/Medicare compliance, marketing and business development efforts. 


Growing up in an Air Force family as the youngest of five children, I earned my nomadic tendencies early in life.  By the time I graduated from high school in Fort Worth in 1981, my family had lived in Maine, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, New York, Florida, and Texas. After college and graduate school, I added California to my list and then came back full circle to my home state of Maine in 1993. Through it all, my appreciation has grown for the beauty of our country, the uniqueness of each region in which I've lived, and how changing things up can add exciting dimensions to my life.

With both Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in Social Work from Texas Christian University and the University of Texas in Arlington respectively, I am all about helping others. At TCU, I graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa in 1985.  This amazing liberal arts education has allowed me to be successful in a number of different fields with many different roles.  I have fulfilled two Governors’ appointments on the Maine Quality Forum Advisory Council and the Maine Health Data Organization Board, and previously served on the boards of the Maine Health Management Coalition & Foundation and the Maine Health Information Center.  I am most proud to be a Charter Member of the Hanley Fellows program through the Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership and am a graduate of the Institute for Civic Leadership and Outward Bound programs.  

My current community activities include very important volunteer work as City Commissioner for the Town of Brock, Texas, and as Board member at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center in Weatherford, Texas.
